A former client of ours informed Providing for Paws that they had been feeding a stray dog in Southwest Detroit for a few weeks. We happened to have an open foster home so we decided to go and find her and take her on. Boy are we glad we did! Poor Rosie was full of ticks when we picked her up. She was excellent at the vet while getting her initial vaccines and with getting all those nasty ticks off of her. She was awesome while she got her bath following her visit to the vet. Rosie is a wonderful sweet and loving girl that just loves people and to play with the other dogs in the foster home. She is overall a very mellow girl with burst of energy when it is play time. She is a very fast learner and already knows basic commands and a couple of tricks. She has been a complete joy to have as a Providing for Paws adoptable dog.
LOLA
Lola is an adorable 1 to 1 1/2 year old Border Collie, Lab mix that is simply the life of the party. She is one of the most social butterflies we have ever had in our rescue. She simply enjoys life to the fullest by wanting to play and have fun with her masters and the other dogs in the house. Yet Lola also wants to just chill with her person when there is no fun to be had. As you can see she is simply gorgeous with her super soft white fur and unique black markings here and there. Super smart and willing to learn any new tricks and will make someone special a very loyal furry companion.
BUBBA
Bubba is an adorable 8 to 9 month old Lab/ Pit Bull mix. Very loving and affectionate and an overall laid back boy. Always wanting to be the center of attention with snuggles and with play. He is a very confident boy that is not afraid of anything. Bubba is wonderful with children and other dogs. Bubba loves anyone or anything that will show him love and affection. You look into his eyes and he makes your heart melt. Wouldn't you like to open your heart and home for this sweet baby boy??
LUCKY
Lucky went from rags to riches. He once lived with a homeless man panhandling for more then 2 years. He was struck by a car just before Christmas 2011. That is when Providing for Paws received numerous phone calls pleading for help for this dog named Lucky. Lucky's owner knew he could no longer give Lucky what he needed after needing his leg amputated and asked us to take him. Lucky is now all healed up from his surgery and has adjusted well from having a leg amputated. In fact you wouldn't even know he was missing a limb. He has found a wonderful furever home with five children and a Mom and Dad. He is living life to the fullest no longer being chained to a grocery cart. Lucky was truly blessed by so many supporters and now a wonderful new family.
GYPSY
Gypsy is a six month old puppy that did not start out with a very good life. She was found as a baby by a homeless man nearly starved to death. The homeless man took her in and was able to fatten her up a bit. However, he was taking Gypsy to a very dangerous corner to panhandle with him. A dog that the homeless man had previously, had already been injured from standing on the same corner with him. Despite pleas from Providing for Paws, the homeless man would not give Gypsy and another dog he had to our organization. In mid January, the homeless man became ill and left Gypsy and the other dog in an abandon home for over two weeks, with no food or water. The homeless man contact Providing for Paws and asked us to go with him to see if Gypsy and the other dog were still alive. Thank goodness both were okay other then being very hungry and thirsty. We did notice that Gypsy had suffered from a broken tail. We will never know how Gypsy broke her tail and there is nothing that can be done to fix it. The break had already healed nicely and she is still able to wag it to show you how happy she is. The homeless man was taken to the hospital and treated for his illness and the dogs were given to Providing for Paws, knowing he could no longer care for them. Gypsy has done wonderful since her rescue and is loving her new life. She is playful, sweet and is very smart. She has been spayed and vaccinated and has her potty training down pat. She is a little shy at times but over comes that quickly. Gypsy is crate trained, however does not like to be left alone. Most likely in fear she will be left like she was in that abandoned home. She would do best if she was in a home that would not leave her home alone often, however I think she will get over that fear once she knows that her owner will come back for her always. She has done very well living with two other dogs and enjoys playing and ruff housing with both of them. She also does great with children. She now needs to find the perfect home that will give her all the love and attention she so deserves. If you would like to see Gypsy's old life and have facebook, feel free to view this video of her and the other two dogs that also lived with the homeless man: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=300098516698596
TRIXIE
Trixie is a 10 month old female Rottweiler. She is super sweet and energetic pup that just wants to play and be loved on. She will give you lots of love and kisses to anyone who gives her a little bit of attention. Although she loves children, she is going to be a pretty big girl so a home without young children might be more ideal for her. She is great with other dogs and wants to play, play and play with them. Trixie's life did not start out to good. She was owned first by a man who went to prison who turned her over to a homeless man that use to panhandle with her at the corner of 8 Mile Road and I-75. The homeless man left her in an abandon home for over two weeks tied up with no food or water. We were lucky to save her before anything bad happened to her. None of this seems to of affected her in any way. If you are looking for a loving and energetic pup, then Trixie is your gal.
